The Centre has charitable status and is managed by a committee of people from the local community. The theme of the project is ”Giving while Living”, which is based on Chuck Feeney’s philosophy (Atlantic Philanthropies).Due to the economic downturn, we have a number of skilled tradesmen in construction who are unemployed and are willing to give of their time for free to the project, thus considerably reducing building costs.
Given that local people are giving of their time for free to this project, our aim is to also contact anyone who went to Drumfries school or who has relatives who may have went there, to make a contribution towards the building costs. By reaching out to the diaspora, we hope that it will make them feel part of the project and give them a connection with their native home, regardless of where in the world they have chosen to put down their roots.
